Middleton Press tram with C5 motor
Thursday February 16, 2017
by Cass Morgan
Following the news this week that the Sinclair C5 has been reinvented by the nephew of Sir Clive Sinclair, Middleton Press memories of the original C5 came flooding back.
Life long tram admirer, Vic Mitchell, chose to build a quarter full size London tram to run on his garden railway in 1990. And the motor that ran it, and still does, was from a 1980s C5 vehicle.
At 12 volts, the Sinclair motor was ideal, as was his eldest grandson as a model driver. Carrying Middleton Press ads, the vehicle was perfect to promote his firm’s developing range of tramway albums, which now cover most of Britain.
The range can be seen on this website.
