Glasgow Trolleybuses
by Colin Barker
Although Glasgow was famous for its large tram fleet, which operated throughout the city and well beyond, for a relatively short period, trolleybuses provided a fast, smooth, fume-free form of public transport between 1949 and 1967.
This publication provides a pictorial appreciation of the routes they served, and the vehicles operated, in a city that has changed so much in the last 50 years. Many of the pictures depict scenes that are unrecognisable today, and the contents should interest those that study the city’s social history.
The material will bring back memories for older generations, and illustrate to others a form of public transport that has disappeared from United Kingdom streets.
