Northern Lines
Blackburn to Hellifield
the Ribble Valley Line
by John Matthews
Stunning scenery. Beautiful rolling landscapes are a constant companion as this railway follows the course of the River Ribble. The stunning scenery necessitated vast viaducts.
Extensive limestone resulted in much cement traffic and dwindling passenger numbers meant prolonged closure. Thus this album contains a wide range of fascinating photographs.
Review:
'The well-reproduced illustrations include some historic scenes, accompanied by Ordnance Survey plans, timetables, posters and tickets.'
(Journal of the Railway & Canal Historical Society, July 2017)
