Narrow Gauge
Tourist Railways of France
The Sub-Metre Gauge Lines
by John Organ
In addition to its vast array of Metre Gauge systems, France also boasted a large number of smaller gauge railways.
The majority of these were used for agricultural and industrial purposes, many employing the legacy of WW1 for their motive power and rolling stock.
The few survivors have been adapted to a new role as tourist attractions, these short lines providing a lasting memory of their former glory.
Review:
'The book can be highly recommended. The map of France, showing the location of the railways, has already got your reviewer checking time tables and car ferry prices!'
