Narrow Gauge
Corris and Vale of Rheidol
from Machynlleth and Aberystwyth
by Vic Mitchell
The Corris started as a tramroad, mostly adjacent to the highway and mainly for the conveyance of slate. It evolved into an unusual passenger railway with great charm and part of it is being lovingly restored. The Vale of Rheidol route to Devil's Bridge has equally attractive environs and survived several changes to continue to convey countless admirers. All eras of these fascinating byways are illustrated in the leisurely journey on both historic lines.
