Midland Main Lines
Rugeley to Stoke-on-Trent
TRENTHAM GARDENS BRANCH
by Vic Mitchell & Keith Smith
The North Staffordshire Railway was widely known as “The Knotty”, owing to its emblem containing the county’s curious cord symbols.
This route served “The Potteries”, source of much of the nations china, and also ran through extensive picturesque countryside.
The line formed part of the shortest link between London and Manchester.
Reviews:
'A further volume by this well known pair in the Middleton Press series. Despite this section of line being just over 21 miles there is ample interest to compile a comprehensive photographic record of the route which had connections to many industrial locations.'
(Railway Observer, December 2016)
'As usual, the volume is packed with facts contained in extended captions, and is a must for local historians or anyone researching this section of what is often a diversionary route for the West Coast Main Line.'
(The Railway Magazine, September 2017)
