Derby to Chesterfield
including the Ashover Light Railway
by Vic Mitchell & Keith Smith
The historic route climbs steadily before finally emerging from a long tunnel into a once complex industrial area.
Many fascinating details are revealed, along with the unique 2ft gauge Ashover Light Railway. This had entirely American locomotives for passenger haulage, which lasted only 11 years.
Review:
'The story of the Derby to Chesterfield line is told in the usual Middleton Press style, with plenty of good quality black and white photos covering from the late 1890s to the present day, with maps, ticket images, timetables, a line gradient diagram, signal box details and many other items of ephemera. Captions are informative.... the amount of research and detail in Middleton Press books is impressive.'
