Eastern Main Lines
Darlington - Leamside - Newcastle
by Roger Darsley
The original route of the East Coast Main Line between Darlington and Newcastle was via Leamside. There are both country and city stations but the line travelled through the industrial heartland of East Durham and shared some of its tracks with the coal carrying Lambton Railway.
