Branch Lines
Branch Lines around March
from Ely, St. Ives, Ramsey East, Peterborough, Murrow and Wisbech
by Vic Mitchell, Keith Smith, Chris Awdry & Allan Mott
Local agricultural traffic was the life blood of this group of lines for several generations, coal and passengers producing additional revenue. In LNER days, March became the important hub of a freight distribution system. Once forming secondary routes on the railway map, only two remain open to passengers.
